Welcome, Sunnyvale Moose Member!

So, you want to use the Moose website so you can check out the events calendar, look up contact information to get involved with social and leadership activities, and check out more photos?

Here is a brief overview of the new website.

Home Page: Layout of the Website

Basic Layout

Each web page of this site has three sections separated by horizontal bars: a header, body, and footer.
  1. The header is at the top of the page and includes the logo, the page title(s), and the navigation links.
  2. The body is the specific content of each page.
  3. The footer, at the bottom, contains a smaller version of the navigation bar and email links to the webmaster and a link to the feedback form.
All pages have the same header and footer.

Header and Navigation Bar

Below is a sample home page of our website. Once logged in, you can click on the logo and it will take you to your home page which gives you a brief list of handy shortcuts.

Navigation Bar

The Navbar contains links (separated by the "|" symbol) to various pages that focus on specific aspects of the website. The roster of links here depends on whether you are logged in or not and what level of permissions you have to see or update certain parts of the website. They are always listed in alphebetical order so they may shift in position.

By default, every page navigation bar has the following links:

  • Event Calendar: Gives summary listings of past and (by default) future dance events.
  • Facebook: Links to our Facebook page.
  • Feedback: Form anyone can fill out to communicate to the Webmaster and board. You can use this without logging in, so if you need help with anything, fill out the form, give us details of what you were trying to do and what you saw that didn't seem right and we will get back to you very soon. (Don't forget to include your name, phone number, and email in the contact information section).
  • Home: Basic home page in case you get lost.
  • Login: Form to submit your user name and password to get to the members only functions and information (e.g. club directory).
  • Newsletters: Archive copies of newsletters
  • Roles: Listing of Who's Who here at Moose 2049

Website Home Page Layout

The body of the home page has a left half and a right half.
Left HalfRight Half

News

The left page has a block for current news items of interest to the members. These are transient in nature and when they reach their expiration date they will disappear from this page. You can see the details by clicking on the title of the news event.

This Weeks Calendar

Below the News is a list of the next week's events. The colors change each day so you can see blocks of events per day. This is a dynamic calendar and updates every day. You can learn more information about the event by clicking on the event name.

Marketing Photo

This slot pulls from an album of photos that demonstrate how much fun we have here and why your guests should join. If you have a photo that shows us off, give it to the webmaster and add it to the pool.

About the Moose

The website has a library of Frequently Asked Questions (aka FAQ's) and the category of those that are of interest to the public are listed here. Once any member logs in, the entire library of answers to popular questions are available (like "How do I become a Bartender" or "Whom do I talk to help cook breakfast?", etc.).
Sample Home Page
Event Calendar
When you click on the Event Calendar you will see a list of all future events. At the top is a filter/query bar where you can select a specific set of events or you can click on words in the listing to narrow the search.
Sample Calendar Events Default List
From the default list, clicking on any link will "Drill Down" and only show you the set of items that match the values you click on. For example, if you are only interested in all events that happen on Tuesdays, you start off at the default list of all future events, then click on the Tues under the column of Day and now the list only shows the events that happen on Tuesdays. In this situation where you are looking at one weekday, the background color changes for different weeks so all Tuesday events of the same week have the same background.

Weekday = Tues
Now you are only interested in the Tuesday events that are also hosted by the Exec Board so you click on Exec Board under the column of Host Group and it will redraw the list so that you and see the list of events that will both be on Tuesday and hosted by the Exec Board.
Sample Calendar Events List Filtered by
Weekday = Tue AND Host Group = Exec Board
At any time you can click on any event name and you will see the details of the event. Here we are clicking on the specific event name in the third row in the Event Name column labeled Joint Planning Mtg and will see a separate page showing detils.

Roles: Who's Who at Moose
Clicking on the Roles link near the bottom of the header panel, you will see a listing of everyone who holds a leadership position. This is the best way to get in touch with a group to get involved. You can click on any name and it will show the email of that person.
